Stephen
likes the challenge of painting Swans and for the 2002 catalogue
this was his only freehand painted piece. The whole atmosphere
is one of tranquility often associated with the Queen's royal
bird. Swans are well known for defending the pile of weed
they call their nest, one of which features on both the inside
of the box and the outside rim. The lid of the box has a Swan
carefully tending a cygnet.
After
completing the enamel edition, Stephen was commissioned to
paint this superb 8" china handled and lidded vase.
