TERRY HALLORAN was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire in 1950 and although he was brought up in an industrial area his interests as a boy were fishing and alas, like many small boys at the time, egg collecting. Fortunately he quickly grew out of egg collecting but he retained a love of wildlife and fishing that have persisted to this day. Terry and his wife are supporters of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.

Terry began working for the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company at the age of 22, training under Sam Platt. He became one of their leading painters of china, working there for many years. After leaving Royal Worcester, he worked for Albany Fine China and produced colour standards for the "Halcyon Days" range of wildlife sculptures. He also collaborated with David Geenty (a wildlife artist and equestrian sculptor with an international reputation) on a highly successful series of figurines for the "Hamilton Collection". These sold by mail order in the U.S.A. and U.K.

In a change of direction he joined Kingsley Enamels in the early 1990's to paint enamels. He helped the company grow until it was recognised for its high quality copper enamels. Distinguishing this company from others were the freehand painted editions which Terry and Stephen Smith created. When Kingsley Enamels was bought by W. Moorcroft plc, he was asked to concentrate on premium freehand painted limited editions and he quickly acquired a huge following amongst collectors. He has specialised in wildlife limited editions since the formation of Moorcroft Enamels. His style is distinctive and his pieces are immediately recognisable in each catalogue. The use of subtle and subdued colours gives the artwork a wonderful atmosphere.

In March 2006 Terry was made redundant (again!) along with all the other artists employed by Moorcroft Enamels. Determined not to suffer this anxiety again after such a long career in a vulnerable industry, he has now established himself as a self-employed artist working in both copper enamels and fine china. Working with Stephen Smith, he creates and paints exclusive limited editions on china available from selected retailers (further details about this venture can be found under Steve's biography).
